Michelle Sheardown who was motivated to act when her thirteen year old daughter started campaigning for the Green Party. Always a nature lover, feeling most peaceful in the forest or garden, Michelle recognized that climate change would require increased public action. As a founding Director of DrawdownBC, now RegenerateBC, Michelle continues as a facilitator with a focus on community level action and the impacts of both climate change and biodiversity loss.
Collaboration is a tool for change. Actions we take as individuals are important and necessary. Every small action adds up. Please keep doing your part! But if we only think of ourselves as individuals in the face of something as large and all-encompassing as climate change and biodiversity loss, many of us feel powerless and unsure of how to make a more significant impact. It turns out that acting as a group (strength in numbers!) in your local community may be the answer. Actions we take at the community level make a big impact and provide benefits you may not have thought of – like new friendships and the joy in celebrating successes with a team of committed neighbours.
